چکیده

INTRODUCTION ACL injury has reached epidemic levels. In the United States, it is estimated that 100,000200,000 people sustain an ACL injury annually. ACL injury is thought to alter knee mechanics, disrupting cartilage metabolism. These changes in knee joint mechanics have been linked to increased incidence of osteoarthritis (OA); however, the precise mechanism is poorly understood (Tapper 2005). Developing an in vivo method for accurately tracking 3D bone kinematics during relative movements of articular surfaces during load-bearing movements in both healthy and injured knees may be useful for exploring the relationship between joint motion and OA. The goal of this study was to introduce a novel method for tracking 3D kinematics of the healthy and ACL-transected goat knee joint.

In Vivo Method for Tracking 3D Kinematics of the Healthy and Anterior Crucial Ligament Transected Goat Knee Joint: A Preliminary Study

The objective of this paper is to introduce a novel method for tracking 3D kinematics of the healthy and anterior crucial ligament (ACL) transected goat knee. Sham and ACL transection surgeries were performed on two goats (1 sham, 1 ACL transection) with tantalum bone markers inserted into the tibia and femur. Goat gait was captured using a high-speed, biplanar fluoroscopy system and bone marke...

Kinematics of Hip, Knee and Ankle During Cross- Slope Walking

Purpose: Little information is available on joint kinematic adaptations during walking on cross-slope surfaces (i.e. a surface incline perpendicular to the direction of locomotion). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of cross-slope surfaces on three-dimensional (3D) kinematics of hip, knee, and ankle joints during stance phase of walking.  Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study...

Estimation of spinal loads using a detailed finite element model of the L4-L5 lumbar segment derived by medical imaging kinematics; a feasibility study

Introduction: Low back pain is the most prevalent orthopedic disorder and the first main cause of poor working functionality in developed as wells as many developing countries. In Absence of noninvasive in vivo measurement approaches, biomechanical models are used to estimate mechanical loads on human joints during physical activities. To estimate joint loads via musculoskelet...

In-vivo Knee Kinematics after Total Joint Arthroplasty. a Novel Fluoroscopy-based Technique for Tracking Patellar Motion

Total knee arthroplasty is an effective surgical treatment, although patients do not recover completely normal lower limb joint kinematics and kinetics, and normal muscle activity in daily living activities at the operated knee. Whereas the tibio-femoral joint has been largely exploited in the past using several methodologies, the patello-femoral joint, which plays a fundamental role in the ext...

اثر قطع عضو همیپلویکتومی بر کینماتیک و نیروی تولیدی عضلات اندام تحتانی حین راه رفتن با پروتز کانادین؛ گزارش موردی

Objective Hemipelvectomy amputation is a surgical procedure in which the lower limb and a portion of pelvic are removed. There are a few studies on the performance of this group of patients while walking. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the effect of hemipelvectomy amputation on kinematics and muscle force generation of the lower limb while walking with Canadian prosthesis. Materials & M...
